It is sometimes extremely difficult to parse witness accounts, especially when they may be adding their own interpretations to a particular aspect of the assassination--an aspect that might have been misinterpreted, and which investigators and researchers then have to sort out. Exactly what they saw and which shot that "something" was associated with are sometimes open questions. The risk of misinterpretation--both on the part of witnesses and on the part of investigators/researchers--can create confusion in the case
